How to Apply

To apply to The English College, please follow the steps below. Our Admissions Team will be with you every step of the way, from your initial enquiry through to your child/ren’s first day at school. We also invite you to book a personalised tour of our campus if you would like to visit our school before applying. If you are located outside of Dubai, we are happy to schedule a telephone call with you to discuss your child/ren’s admission.

Step 1: Complete the Online Application Form

Our Online Application Form can be accessed through our secure admissions portal ‘Open Apply’. Register your details to set up an account, through which you can make an enquiry, book a tour, apply online and follow the full application process digitally.

Please note that if you have more than one child, an application form needs to be completed for each child by clicking on ‘Add another applicant’.

Step 2: Complete the Document Checklist

Once you have completed the Online Application Form, go to the document ‘checklist’ and have the following documents ready for uploading:

1) A photograph of your child (jpeg or png format)

2) A copy of your child’s (applicant) Passport

3) A copy of your child’s (applicant) Residence Visa – for UAE residents only**

4) A copy of your child’s (applicant) Emirates ID (front and back) – for UAE residents only**

5) A copy of the father’s Emirates ID (front & back) – for UAE residents only**

6) A copy of the mother’s Emirates ID (front & back) – – for UAE residents only**

6) A copy of your child’s most recent Full School Report. Applicable from Year 1 onwards. This needs to include all subjects including Tutor comments, plus GCSE / AS / BTEC grades where applicable.

** For families coming from outside the UAE, as per Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) regulations, your child’s residence visa copy and Emirates ID copy must be submitted within 45 days of arriving in Dubai. Your child must have a valid residence visa, or evidence that this is in process, when joining the school. A child with a visit visa only, will not be permitted in school. Parents’ Emirates ID copies must also be submitted within 45 days of arriving in the UAE.

Primary School, FS 1 to Year 6

Application Timelines

Applications for Primary are accepted 12 months prior to your required date of joining. Applications are accepted and students are admitted throughout the year, providing a place is available.

From Year 1 onwards, the most recent school report and the last end of year report will be required to be submitted.

If applicable, any learning support reports, such as Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or external assessments will be required to be submitted.

Entry Assessment

Once all documents have been received, an entrance assessment will be scheduled. Please note that failure to disclose any relevant information may compromise your child’s application.

FS1 to Year 2 applicants will be invited to join a class for 60-90 minutes to take part in the day’s activities while the class teacher does an informal observation/assessment.

Year 3 to Year 6 applicants will be required to sit a computer based cognitive ability assessment (CAT4), guided by a member of staff.

Offer Letter

Successful applicants will receive an offer letter and terms of acceptance by email. To accept the place, parents must return the terms of acceptance, accompanied by a non-refundable tuition fee deposit of 10% of the annual fees. This will be deducted from the first term’s tuition payment.

In the event that there are no places available in the applicable year group at the time of application, applicants will be placed on a waiting list.

Secondary School, Year 7 to 9

APPLICATION TIMELINES

Applications for Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 are accepted 12 months prior to your required date of joining.

There are different regulations for entry into Year 11. Please do contact our Admissions Team for more details or view our Admissions Policy 

For immediate entry, applications for students from outside Dubai are accepted throughout the year.

Applications for students coming from within Dubai can only be accepted up to the end of the first term as per KHDA regulations.

From Year 1 onwards, the most recent school report including the last end of year report are required to be submitted.

If available, a CAT4 report completed within the last six months should be submitted.

If applicable, any learning support reports, such as Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or external assessments will be required to be submitted.

Once the AED 500 application fee has been received, an entrance assessment will be scheduled. If a CAT4 test report is available, which has been completed at your child’s current school within the last six months, this may not be necessary. In some circumstances, an interview may be required. Please note that failure to disclose any relevant information may compromise your child’s application.

Key Stage 4, Year 10 and 11

APPLICATION TIMELINES

Key Stage 4 students follow a two-year GCSE/IGCSE curriculum. Students can only be admitted into these years at the beginning of the school year. Year 11 is the second year of the two-year GCSE course. Entry is limited to those who have successfully completed the first year of the course and whose GCSE courses and examination boards match those at The English College. Sixth Form, Year 12 and 13

APPLICATION TIMELINES

Sixth Form students follow a two-year GCE A Level or BTEC curriculum. Students can usually only be admitted into Sixth Form (Year 12) at the beginning of each academic year. Entry after this time will be limited to those who have successfully started their A Level/BTEC course elsewhere and whose courses and examination boards are in alignment with those at our school.

Year 12 applicants will be required to indicate their preferred Sixth Form subject choices when applying.

The most recent school report including the last end of year report and, if applying from other curricula, a CAT4 report completed within the last six months, must be submitted if available. When available, actual or Predicted GCSE/IGCSE grades if transferring from a British curriculum school also need to be submitted.

If applicable, any learning support reports, such as Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or external assessments, must also be submitted.

ENTRY ASSESSMENT

All applicants will be required to sit an entrance assessment and attend an online interview. If the applicant is able to submit a CAT 4 test report, which has been completed within the last six months, an entrance assessment may not be necessary.

INTERVIEW

All applicants will then be invited to an interview with a member of our Sixth Form Team to discuss their suitability for further study and subject choices.

OFFER LETTER

Successful applicants will receive an offer letter and terms of acceptance by email. Offers for Sixth Form will be conditional upon achieving the required (I) GCSE grades for their chosen A Level or BTEC subjects. For applicants coming from other international curricula, offers are conditional upon submission of a satisfactory End of Year Report and review of their CAT4 scores.

SIXTH FORM OPTIONS EVENING

Applicants will be invited to attend our Sixth Form Options Evening, which is traditionally held in January each year.

FINAL GCSE RESULT VERIFICATION & ENROLMENT CONFIRMATION

Once GCSE results are released in August, external applicants who have been offered and have accepted a place, should submit their results to our Admissions Team. In the case of applicants who are transferring from a different curriculum, their End of Year Report should be submitted when available. Results and reports will be reviewed by the Sixth Form team and applicants will be sent a confirmation of enrolment and subject options. If entry requirements are not met, the applicant will be contacted by a member of the Sixth Form team to discuss alternative options.

Step 3: Pay the Application Fee

The application fee is AED 500 per child.  Please note that this is a non-refundable fee.

Important: All applications must be accompanied by the documents listed above, plus the application fee payment for the admissions process to start.

1) Cash Payments

2) Credit Card Payments

These can be made by using the RAK Bank ‘Skiply App’. Please email accountant@englishcollege.ac.ae to enable this payment method as we need to add your child’s name to the app.

3) Cheque Payments

Personal cheque payments are accepted up to 6 days prior to the start of each term. Cheques should be made payable to ‘The English College Dubai’, placed in an envelope with a copy of the parent’s Emirates ID and labelled with the student’s name. Cheques can be left at the secure ‘drop box’ at our Primary and Secondary School Security (Gates 2 & 5). Please inform our Finance Team if you have dropped off a cheque.

Step 4: Sign and return the Offer Letter

Once your child has completed the entrance assessment, the application will be reviewed by our leadership team. If we are able to accommodate your child, you will receive an offer letter and our terms of acceptance. The terms of acceptance must be signed, returned and accompanied by a non-refundable tuition fee deposit as outlined in the school fees schedule. This will be deducted from the first term’s tuition payment.

Transfer Certificates
Students joining The English College from outside of Dubai will be required to provide an official Transfer Certificate (TC) from their current school. Please click here to view a sample TC.

Students joining The English College from within Dubai will be required to provide a KHDA Leaving Certificate from their current school.
